Dapper
The de facto leader of the group, Dapper is a charming half-elf with an urbane wit and exquisite set of manners. The clothing he wears is coloured in shades of purple and black, and cut in a rather cavalier style. His wardrobe consists of a purple doublet, black hose and shirt, with purple gloves and high cut boots with the tops folded down. A wide-brimmed hat with a magnificent plume is perched atop his head. His beard and moustache are neatly trimmed and styled. His smile is merry and there is a roguish twinkle to his eyes.

He is Rodney Dapernis, also known as Dapper Rod, or more commonly as Dapper. And he certainly is.

Dapper was born in the far-off city of Mulkos, a place he obviously loves, but is very close-lipped about. He doesn't speak about his parents, either. He does, however, talk about his travels, stories which are almost certainly at least half embellishment. But he tells these stories with a wide grin and cheerful wink that cause most people to laugh and shake their head in disbelief. The few small details of his life that anyone can be certain of are that he was a thief and a con-man, and that he left Mulkos in a hurry, probably chased by the local police force.

But the one story he has never told is the one about the weapon he carries, and how he got it. The weapon itself resembles a rapier hilt, but without any visible blade, only a round blue gem the size of a coin. When Dapper whispers a command word, one that only he knows, the weapon comes to life. Usually it resembles a proper rapier, but one with a blade of pure magical energy. (Apologies to Star Wars) He has, however, used it in the shape of a whip, a morningstar and other weapons.

The Blades basically came together when Dapper, Tricherion, Reevin and Rippingale banded together in order to destroy the evil demon-sorceror Varrenkalis. Varrenkalis was a necromancer that would experiment on all sorts of creatures, for no other reason than morbid curiousity. Unfortunately, the sorceror was not destroyed, and survives somehow, probably planning his revenge. Dapper and the others didn't stay long enough to find out. In the process of trying to destroy Varrenkalis, they freed the sorceror's current victims. Some left, glad to be free, but some stayed on with Dapper and his companions.

This eventually became the Wayward Blades. The name happens to be Dapper's idea, a referrence to the fact that they wander the land and that they are an adventuring group. Dapper was never officially elected as their leader, but because of his bold nature, quick tongue and charming personality, they generally let him do the talking and negotiating. The reality is that they run by general consensus, giving everyone a right to speak on a matter.
